| | | A few more to identify, please I've made a stab at some of these, but would appreciate confirmation:
1st - a shrub - Pussy Willow?
Can't get an ID on this one, even though the flower is very distinctive.
Prickly Sow-thistle?
Few-leaved Hawkweed?
A Clover variety? |

5 red Clover, Trifolium pratense | I had 3 as Slender St John's-wort H. pulchrum and 5 as possibly Zigzag Clover T. medium for its narrow leaflets - I would have preferred a deeper red flower tho and a look at the stipule so not convinced. Agree with the others.

| | | Re: A few more to identify, please Thanks for your quick response. It appears I was OK with the first.
For the second, I've searched on the latin name and none of the resulting photos has flowers like the one I photographed, nor the leaves. I can see the Hypericum connection, but (at the risk of insulting you ) are you sure about the actual variety?
Third - thanks.
Fourth - I can see the difference in the leaves now - thanks.
Fifth - having looked again, I've seen photos of plants with similar leaf shapes under the heading of Trifolium pratense.
Thanks again. |

| | | Re: A few more to identify, please Which one of us?? It's definitely a Hypericum and I think your photo shows a smallish, more or less upright plant with small, cordate based leaves - hence H. pulchrum. But it is just an opinion from a fairly blurry photo. |

| | | Re: A few more to identify, please Thanks yet again. After looking at Dorts' photos I think it's more like Slender St John's Wort. Sorry aeshna5. Sorry also Johnny Redgate; I didn't check your suggestion, which would have given me the answer first time round, the clue for which is in the shape of the leaves and the colours of the anthers (orange).
My education continues. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
