| | | Ubidentified spectacular flower I have just discovered this rather beautiful flower, I was wondering if someone would help me put a name to it. I am sure it is very well known but I really don't know much about wild flora. |

| | | Re: Ubidentified spectacular flower Thank you for the identification. I have owned this small piece of woodland in North Wales for many years and have never seen it before, I had to take a large diseased tree out last year and the light that it has created has thrown up several new plants. This must have been lying dormant for a long time, I can't imagine I would not have seen it before, and it is as far as I can see the only one.
Next question can it be moved, and if so how does one go about it. I am planning to plant some more trees and it might go dormant for another 30 years! |

Use a spade and don't dig too close to the bulb, do it gently as the bulbs can fall apart quite easily. Plant at the same depth in a similar site, moist semi-shade.
It could be worth recording them. Are you anywhere near me, I'm in the Lledr Valley? PM me if you like.

| | | Re: Ubidentified spectacular flower These are garden escapes, not native here. I doubt it was dormant for all that time, probably it was just growing vegetatively and not flowering in the shade. It should set seed so you could collect that and germinate it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
