Can someone id this for me

I think I know what this is but I reckon I'm wrong coz it's the wrong habitat.
It's growing at the edge of a concrete slope running down onto a sandy beach. The dominant habitat is vegetated coastal shingle and it's one of the driest places in Britain.

Could someone id this for me please

Looks like Common Reed (Phragmites australis), which you often get at the coast since it's somewhat salt tolerant. Should have a fringe of hairs at the base of the leaf blade.

that's what I thought it was, but there's so little available water available.

I agree with K.E. Common Reed - Phragmites australis.
It's got a nice moist spot with its roots beneath that concrete.
