I have no idea what the other plant is , both were taken at sand point near
weston super mare

Your first plant is Sea Beet - Beta vulgaris ssp. maritima. A common plant around our shores and closely related to the cultivated Beets.
The Broomrape certainly has the look of Ivy Broomrape but I see no sign of its host! Was there any Ivy about? It is one of the less-common species but does occur in that area.

There was a little ivy near the plant and plenty of ivy 30 yards away if that helps

| | | Re: id help please Yes, as long as there was some Ivy very near the Broomrape that's fine and I think we can be pretty sure it's Ivy Broomrape. (30yds would be too far away if there was none closer).
