So, lime for the adult trees & cherry for the seedling.

| | | Re: Unidentified plants for id You got it. If you want to be pedantic , they are really Common LimeTrees. According to Keeble-Martin (which is the only reference that I have to these things) Tillia Platyphyllos ( Broad Leaved Lime) originated somewhere in The Severn Valley -I always thought that it was imported-. Britain was covered with Tillia Cordata (Small Leaved Lime) which was just about the most numerous tree in the woods at the time. The two crossed with each other to become The Common Lime which we know today. My other reference books are just identification guides.
I gave my copy of Oliver Rackhams book on the British Countryside away when I moved to Orkney. Some Wabber will still have this book which will throw a lot more light on the subject.
