My field guide for wildflowers has joined my odd socks in that limbo which sucks in things that you thought were in a safe place and I'd be glad if anyone can I.D. this plant. Thanks, Jack.

No not quite. It was on the edge of some woodland on the outskirts of Dundee and I had actually pulled over to,aherm,'water' some of the adjacent plants. It is eye-catching and that's what prompted me to get a quick shot of it. Sorry I have no images of the general structure of the plant.A triumph of the aaaahh factor over scientific enquiry and pragmatism!!!!!!

I don`t have V. gentianoides in my books but I have a vague recollection that it looks a bit like this.

Dorts. | Hi, from what I can find on the net, veronica officinalis, Heath Speedwell seems to fit the bill. I may be up that way again before the week's out and will try to confirm.Still can't find my pesky field guide. Mebbe the dog ate it Thanks all.
