| | | Grasses and Galium for ID please. My Grass ID needs a bit of work and can't put my finger on the first two. Possible to get an ID from flowering spike alone?
1. Meadow Northampton.
2. Marshy area, on limestone grassland Northampton..
3.Soft brome?
4. I thought this was Woodruff, but leaves look different. No flowers but large and robust Galium species, any thoughts? Woodland.

| | | Re: Grasses and Galium for ID please. I would agree with G. odoratum. It has the square stems.
Soft brome, yes too. Can't help much with others.

| | | Re: Grasses and Galium for ID please. 1 looks like Annual Meadow grass and 2 looks like Red Fescue........although I'm not 100% on either.

| | | Re: Grasses and Galium for ID please. 1 and 2 are both meadow grasses, either Poa pratensis or P. trivialis. I'm not sure how you'd tell which from these photos. 3 and 4 look OK for Soft Brome and Hedge Bedstraw. |

| | | Re: Grasses and Galium for ID please. Thanks guys. I may run with 1) Poa pratensis and 2) Poa trivalis - judging by habitats.
