| | | flowers and dog wee... Im totally serious about this , im a regular on the bird forum, but i had just planted a new plant ( name eludes me right now ) last night and i let the dog out this afternoon and he made a beeline to it and done his business on it..
(wee)
Im just wondering , as im just getting into my garden , whether or not dog urine effects plants/flowers in anyway.
cheers

I had to cut a piece of grass out then reseed it as the dog would pee in the same place. |

| | | Re: flowers and dog wee... Male dogs pee is not as strong as bitches pee...Yes dilute it that will help, at least a bitch pees on the grass and is easier to sort.
The (boy) dog next door pees on my plants out the front and they die. |

| | | Re: flowers and dog wee... Not sure about garden plants but I know in some nature reserves/parks dog urine and poo has had serious effects on nutrient poor grassland, as they introduce nutrients to the system and the low nutrient adapted plants die or are out competed by nutrient rich adapted species. |

| | | Re: flowers and dog wee... Bitches pee tends to damage grass more as they squat, whereas dogs pee tends to damage plants and shrubs more because they cock thier leg up them.
You can buy certain products to add to their drinking water to lessen the damage, however some of these products, Dog Rocks isone don't work if the dog is on a BARF diet. |
