Can anyone ID this plant please ?

[Crumble]

We have this growing halfway up the drive at the edge of woodland, in full sun. The photos were taken about a month ago. It is deciduous, not yet in flower and the mature stems are a dark brown.

Grows to about 1.5m tall.

Hi Crumble, (from N W Wales also).
From a distance I thought Willow, but from the close-up of leaves it could be a Spirea.
Only when it flowers can we be sure.

I'm pretty sure this is Spiraea pseudosalicifolia, the leaves are the same as mine in the garden. It has pink bottlebrush flowerheads later on, and the stems are brown.

'Spiraea pseudosalicifolia'- "Spiraea with willow-like leaves."
My thoughts made sense.

Many thanks folks. That sounds like a likely candidate. Shouldn't be long before the flowers start to appear, so shoudl get a positive ID then. If it's any different, I'll be back with photos !
