Eggs on sycamore tree bark

Hi everyone
This is my first post so excuse me if I'm not doing this right.
We've just moved into a new flat and have a sycamore tree in the garden.
Over the last week we've noticed that there are funny white egg type things scattered all over the bark.
Looks sort of like a spiders nest although can't see anything other than white fluffy stuff and they are covered by a brown oval shaped cap.
Don't think it's spiders nest but tha's the only way I can describe it.
Does anyone have an idea of what this can be?

That is exactly what they are!
Just been up on a chair with my toothbrush brushing them off - looking very silly as fell off the chair and into the flower bed! Am ok tho.
Can't reach the ones at the top but got the lower ones off.
