| | | Re: odd tree for id I considered Whitebeam Gill - but the leaves don't look pale enough or quite the right texture.
Oh well, I'm sure a Tree expert will be along shortly!

| | | Re: odd tree for id Gill + Johnny have it. It is a form of Whitebeam. It does resemble Sorbus aria but there are various cultivars planted not to mention rare microspecies. |

| | | Re: odd tree for id We have very few Sorbus that make a tree of this size, and I suspect this is a planted non-native species, perhaps part of the Sorbus latifolia agg. group.
I have to say, I find this particular tree a lovey, light and open plant and I'd have it in my garden any time, if only I knew what it was!

| | | Re: odd tree for id Thanks everyone for your reply's.
I found this tree in a forestry commission woodland car park. It could well have been dumped there at some point.
If I were to go back and look at the tree again in a few weeks or months is there anything I should look out for that would pin down the ID.
Thanks again Dave. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
