| | | And another one... I've got this one as a Marsh Violet, but it's a bit early, according to my book, and the colour? Found in an old, sheltered hedgerow near Castleton, Derbyshire. |

| | | Re: And another one... Looks like 2 out of 2. The leaf shape and texture are a fit and the colour is about right. Thanks again! |

| | | Re: And another one... Marsh Violet has very rounded, overlapping petals, and is generally later-flowering than the other common species.
So I agree with Hedera, Common Dog Violet - Viola riviniana.

| | | Re: And another one... Thanks again. Apart from needing another reference book, I've learned a thing or two about how to take such photos so that they provide the sort of information needed for identification.
Just for background, my quest is a basic one (a bit late starting, at my age, but never mind) - When out on my walks, whenever I see a plant/tree/bird that I don't recognise, I get a photo (or try in the case of the birds) for checking back at base. I know all the common stuff, but there's still plenty to ago at.
The assistance of experts on this site is very much appreciated. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
