| | | Dorset Lizard Orchid site being managed Dear All,
The only site for Lizard Orchid in Dorset is now back under habitat management. I have got the site cut and raked off as well as some small invading birch, broom and gorse removed.
The last sighting in one document I have seen for Lizard Orchid in Dorset was around 2003 but I managed to find a single rosette last year. The great news it is up again and has split into two sections. It is not large enough to flower by the looks this year but I am hoping more rosettes will appear in the future.
My management was a bit late this year for this site but it took a while to sort out permission, health and safety, signs, etc, for the site in question.
There was no nesting birds in the small trees and bushes removed and the verge is mainly comprised of cock's-foot grass.

| | | Re: Dorset Lizard Orchid site being managed There is one in the London Borough of Hounslow too, which I understand is the only one in London. Thought we'd lost it in last year's drought.
Can you PM me with the location of the Surrey plant at all please Aeshna?
Cheers,
Adam |

Adam | I think Adam I was probably thinking of your plant which is of course Middx, not Surrey ( confusingly nearby Staines Res is these days considered Surrey (I think?). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
