| | | Unidentified shrub We have a lovely shrub in our 'garden bit' at the farm.
It produces lovely blossom and then sets berries - which seem to be unpalatable to birds. I would love to know what it is and I have some pictures taken last year but I have failed to upload them as it says 'image to large' and I don't know how to reduce and save them. I can, however, reduce them to email to someone if they would be kind enough to put them on for me. Any offers please? |

| | | Re: Unidentified shrub Thanks Deb. Woodman -yes possibly crab although fruits are tiny (slightly bigger than hawthorn berries). I'll get some pics in the Autumn. Trailing habit might be misleading as there was evidence of fire damage to the shrub when we bought the land many years ago. |

| | | Re: Unidentified shrub Thanks for all replies - never thought 'crab apple' as fruits are tiny (should have dissected one!!) Don't think it's cherry - more inclined to think crab apple and, I think, (from reading a lot on here) Dorts seems to be an expert in these matters |

I've grown 'Red Jade', its fruits are clusters of tiny deep-red cherry-like apples and its blossom is exactly as your pics.
Problem solved next autumn when you either find 'one stone' or 'several pips'!
