The amount of noticable pollen produced from different species of tree varies greatly, so the first thing to do would be to produce a list of trees that produce such pollen and then note their flowering times.
Not too difficult to do.
The male Yew trees and various Cupressus are producing large amounts of pollen at the moment, could that be what you have seen?

Your Yew tree is the current dispenser! local air movements are causing the pollen to swirl which made spotting it difficult. The Hazel nearby is also having
(or appears to be) a somewhat late shake out.
