| | | Plant ID's 1)
Growing in the margins of a pond, slightly eutrophic, lowland surrounded by semi-improved grassland.
2)
Growing on the edge of a pond, is this a dogwood?
3)
Growing in a small beech and horse chesnut plantation, lords and ladies or something similar?
Thanks in advance. |

| | | Re: Plant ID's Arum maculatum is a common woodland plant species of the Araceae family. It is widespread across temperate northern Europe and is known by an abundance of common names including Wild arum, Lords and Ladies, Jack in the Pulpit, Devils and Angels, Cows and Bulls, Cuckoo-Pint, Adam and Eve, Bobbins, Naked Boys, Starch-Root and Wake Robin.
Now I know why the experts use scientific names. I know this plant as Lords and ladies or Jack in the pulpit. |

| | | Re: Plant ID's Ahh my initial mistake with the Ranunculus species is probably because I have never seen that species before and thus thought: ahh I have seen those leaves before must be creeping buttercup! I should never assume, without researching first!
A plant I have never found although it is stated as common in most guides. NBN Gateway says it is in my area. Will keep my eyes peeled for it in the summer, more of a fringing plant of aquatic areas I believe??. |

I see you are from my county. We are busying recording for the next flora of Northamptonshire due out in 2012 so if you are about in Northamptonshire your records are welcome of any species both common or rare. There are 4 flora group meetings planned for Northamptonshire this year so you are welcome to come along.
