Found an Elder today in leaf

It was about 2 feet tall and living inside the (naturally) hollowed out trunk of an ash tree! Is this a record??!

Must be a 'microclimate' there inside the Ash.

Elder, in a well sheltered location may be found partially in leaf at any time of year, although this is by no means common.
Very early growth may also occur and is not uncommon.
