| | | Re: 3 for confirm/ID please Your No 1 looks more like wild privet, the leaves are too narrow for buckthorn.
No 3 could be shepherd's purse.

| | | Re: 3 for confirm/ID please Privet is what I thought also but the buckthorn is suppose to be all over the fen so I was a bit unsure. Are the berries to clustered the a buckthorn species also? |

1. Wild Privet - Ligustrum vulgare (Hedera is right).
2. Spiked Water-milfoil - Myriophyllum spicatum. Quite common in that area.
3. Shepherd's-purse - Capsella bursa-pastoris

| | | Re: 3 for confirm/ID please Thanks Dorts and hedera. Looking at Myriophyllum in my book, could Alternate Water-milfoil (Myriophyllum alterniflorum) be a candidate for 2 also?
Cheers |

There's also L. japonicum (also from Japan-of course! ) - whilst the native species is L. vulgare - with more lanceolate leaves than the previous. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
