Shoots growing on leaves?
Hi,

I've seen this at my local nature reserve in London, purple-pink shoots growing out of leaves - never seen anything like it! Does anyone have any idea what this might be??

I thank the tree is Bird cherry, so it could be galls caused by a mite (Phytoptus padi).

William. The tree is a Lime and the 'growths' are Lime Nail Galls, caused by the mite Eriophyes tiliae. Not uncommon.
