| | | Unidentified Shrub in Cornwall My friend lives in Cornwall and has this shrub growing all over her garden, though we are not sure if it's a native wildy or a cultivated one. She has lived pretty much all over the uk but has only ever seen it in Cornwall where she says it grows everywhere.
She thought I might know what it is, but I've never seen it myself.
Any Ideas?
Many Thanks

| | | Re: Unidentified Shrub in Cornwall Leycesteria formosa (also called Pheasant berry and Himalayan honeysuckle) Had one turn up in my Garden (Brum) two years ago 9" tall now Berries are edible in small amounts tastes like fruit caramel when ripe, sour and mouth burning when not. I squeeze the juice into a cup rather then pick them and make a small amount of Jelly. Grows everywhere. Literally

| | | Re: Unidentified Shrub in Cornwall When I first encountered this shrub in the wild, back in the late 50's, it was then called Himalayan Nutmeg or Flowering Nutmeg.
