| | | Help needed re: Lilac bush Hi, my brother-in-law is having a replacement sewer line but it will involve digging up a 60 year old Lilac bush, can aybody tell us if and how a cutting from this magnificent bush can taken and re-planted? |

| | | Re: Help needed re: Lilac bush Lilacs produce lots of rooted off-shoots or suckers, so it would be best to save some of these from the outer parts of the bush as they will be stronger. Plant 3-5 of them together and they will soon make another sizable bush.

If they have got a machine to dig it up, why not get them to dig a hole and replant it? Definitely worth a try, chances are some of it will survive with a bit of extra watering.
But in the meantime Hedera's advice is good and worth following.
