| | | Does anything eat Alder seeds? I know this year the Alders have produced bumper crops but I have asked a couple of people (reserve warden, and an ecologist), what eats the Alder seeds. So far no-one has been able to answer this.
Thank you,
Louise xx

Thank you,
Louise xx | As far as I am aware Louise Alder seeds are a favourite food of Siskins during the winter months. I have certainly seen them on Alder myself.

Roger | I'd agree with Roger, I've recently seen flocks of 30 - 40 Siskin busy feeding on Alder seeds

| | | Re: Does anything eat Alder seeds? Thanks guys. I had a feeling the answer would be small birds but was not sure which ones. Now I know, I can impress the wardens!!

| | | Re: Does anything eat Alder seeds? Not just Siskins + Redpolls, but Goldfiches are also very partial to Alder cones. Amongst insects I know both Parent Bugs feed on the fruits. |
