| | | Tiny Wild Flower Patch To Mow? I have a very small patch of wildflowers growing full and fine in my garden, is there a time I should trim some of the plants back, or do I just leave it be?
I have read that some wildflowers need 2 years growth to flower (biennials).
Last year (the patches proper first year) we seemed to have greater plant diversity, this year we've got taller plants but far fewer colours and species.
We don't put anything on the patch and I'm not certain which plants are from the seeds I threw and which ones are 'weeds' that arrived independently. |

| | | Re: Tiny Wild Flower Patch To Mow? Best thing to do is to strim at about 3"-4" when the majority of plants have ripe seed, (July-August) and remove all strimmings. The diversity of species will reduce each year so it maybe best to introduce new annuals each autumn, just raking the seeds in.
Try to keep ontop of any plant that appears to be taking over by pulling them up. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
