| | | more id's please!!! these were taken at a little nature reserve in the middle of an industrial estate, there was a good mix of wildflowers, many of which i couldnt ID. also had a couple of orchids, my first ever!!! the habitat was dry grassland, next to a railway line
this one looks like whitlowgrass, but not sure as it had smooth leaves and stem, definately a cabbage though!
i don't know what this is, don't even know where to start
this isnt flowering, not sure it will, but it was growing everywhere
again with this i'm not sure at all. it has mint-shaped leaves and yellow flowers, but the flowers look pea-like
this is one of the orchid species i saw, weird photo not sure whats going on with it, and then there's a close-up. the other species i saw was common spotted, but it wasnt in full flower yet so i'll have to go back!
AAAANNNNDDDD finally, this most probable garden escape, found at a different location, on the edge of an arable field
thanks folks, thats all for now

| | | Re: more id's please!!! 1. Hoary Cress, (also known as Hoary Pepperwort) Lepidium draba
2. Mignonette, Reseda lutea
3. Horsetail. Equisetum arvense
4. Yellow Rattle. Rhinanthus minor.
5. Common Spotted Orchid. Dactylorhiza fuchsii An interesting one this, but I have to go for an atypical form of Common Spotted.
6. Columbine Aquilegia vulgaris. A garden variety.
Hope that helps. |

| | | Re: more id's please!!! I've had a closer look at No. 5 and it looks so much like one of the forms of Early Marsh Orchid Dactylhoriza incarnata.. Though that likes damp or even wet ground, but from your pic it looks quite dry!
Anyway you've got me thinking on that one. |

| | | Re: more id's please!!! nice work folks. i'll be going back at some point soon so i'll get some better pics. its a surprising little site, little more than a small field, but has a good diversity of flowers and is now managed by the nottinghamshire wildlife trust.
i just read this on the website for the reserve - Quote: |
Of particular interest is the Southern Marsh Orchid, which, together with the Common Spotted Orchid and their hybrids, make the site of high scientific value
| so that may work towards answering any questions about the orchids!

| | | Re: more id's please!!! Hi The beard, Not sure about the first. Does it smell like a cabbage? If so... The second has had lots of ID as mignonette. Not a plant I have met.
3 horsetail, 4 yellow rattle and five is a lovely little collumbine. I would try to get some seeds off that. The two tone is unusual. Mine are all one colour. Don't know about the orchid, I am not very up on them. |
