| | purple broom id but when i loooked up purpureus it had flowers shaped like the typical yellow broom (mouse ear)
these are very much smaller and more like lminiature lilac    |

I note that it is considered an invasive pest on the east coast of cousin country and seriously damages waterways
it does look quite spectacular
i note also that it should be pruned back hard in early spring to encourage new growth and stop the bush becoming top heavy and blowing over.
