| | | Trying to identify nut/fruit tree Worcestershire I have a paddock with various fruit trees. I have Apple, pear, plum, Damson. I have had these tree's growing on the border of my garden and Paddock. They are tall tree's around 30ft and first 10ft has no branches really they are tall and slim about width of your arm. They have never produced any fruit or nuts. So I cut a section of them down about 2 years ago. They have come back very strong.
But more importantly the ones I didnt cut down which are the same trees have now started to develop some kind of fruit of nut? Its early stages so unsure what final out come will be. but they almost look like the start of what a broad bean would look like.
Pictures show the Trees bearing fruit and height which is about 25ft-30ft I have taken pictures of the leaves and the bark. Also I noticed that the smaller branches coming off the larger trees have sharp spines on them around 2" long.
Does anyone have any idea what species of Tree this is. As It used to be an orchard, hence all the other fruit trees. I look high and low and cannot find this tree.
Please help |

| | | Re: Trying to identify nut/fruit tree Worcestershire I have been out and got a ladder to the top of the trees and some fruits on the other tall trees are small and round fruits exactly like my other plum trees.
How come after 4 years have they started fruiting again as my other trees are only 15ft-18ft and they produce many fruits year on year. Might it be that I cut a load of the trees down in front of these large older trees? Im keen to see the type of plum it produces as my other tree's produce golden plums would be nice for different variety. and they are slightly different trees for sure.
Thanks for all the help | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
