| | | ID Please - Forgetmenot? I think this may be Wood forgetmenot - M. sylvatica but the drawings in the only book I have are not clear so really guessing.

| | | Re: ID Please - Forgetmenot? Certainly looks like it to me - but Forget-me-nots are a difficult group, a photo showing the plant as a whole and some information on the habitat it was found in are vitally important to putting a certain name to it.
Anyway, I'd gladly stake £50 on this one being M. sylvatica, because it's the common garden-escape species. Field Forget-me-not is common as an arable weed (it's also a frequent wasteland and pavement weed in Bristol), Water Forget-me-not (M. scorpoides) is the showiest species but confined to marshy habitats and there are a few other less frequent ones that usually need a specific habitat (marshland/damp ground or upland, basically). |
