| | Taking cuttings.  I want to take cuttings from three shrubs that i like but dont know where to start.The plants in question are Wild Barberry,Honeysuckle(not shrub type)and pyracantha.Is May the month to do it and how do i go about starting?Thanks,

| | | Re: Taking cuttings. The honeysuckle you layer it, pin down a long stem and cover it with earth it will take easy. I think this time of year is just fine for this.
I have a honeysuckle I let grow along the ground instead of tying it up it produced roots and now is a new plant.
Not sure about the others though. |

| | | Re: Taking cuttings. I agree with Kayleigh on the honeysuckle, it will root almost anytime. it's too early for pyracantha, wait till late September and take semi-ripe cuttings then from nonflowered shoots. Don't know about barberry, but would treat it the same as it is a berrying shrub.

| | | Re: Taking cuttings. July would be okay for Pyracanthia cuttings.Cut pieces blow leaf joint of 3-5 inch length.Remove lower leaves.Place into rooting mixture.Takes about 8 weeks to root.Plant out next Spring.
Best advice for Barberry I would look at ehow.co.uk how to propogate barberry.
