I'm in need of some help to put a name to these, all introductions; some garden escapes, others garden relics.
1: A maple, probably once planted; the nearest I can get is
Acer velutinum, Velvet Maple, but that would be a very unusual record.
2: An Elephant's-ears,
Bergenia, species; there are two likely candidates,
Bergenia crassifolia and the hybrid
B. x schmidti, but I've not been able to find any reliable features to distinguish between them
3: One of the "london-pride" saxifrages; does anyone have any idea which?
4: A crab-apple self-sown on a beach, looks to be either Hupeh,
Malus hupehensis, or the hybrid
M. x robusta, but I can't make up my mind which. I'm not even sure whether
M.x robusta is fertile?
5: Some kind of
Cornus, perhaps Cornelian-cherry (
Cornus mas) after it's finished flowering?
6: Is this Alpine Rock-cress,
Arabis alpina, or just the common Garden Rock-cress (
Arabis caucasica)?
7: A type of cherry,
Prunus sp.;
Thanks, all opinions gratefully appreciated
