identification please

not sure what this is, but as they were not uniform in colour, i'm pretty sure they're not wild/native flowers, but they were very nice, especially coating the floor of the bit of woodland (a few trees next to the lake at uni) i was in!

any ideas??? Thanks

Wood anemone.

But i think the purple ones which appear a lot are a hybrid with a garden variety?

It's actually Balkan Anemone (Anemone blanda), a garden escape that seems to be increasing

Its all over the place round my village too.

thanks folks, although its an escape its certainly very nice and brightens up the ground around there
