| | | daffs and light! The foxes are prone to dig up our tubbed daffs and we cover them with large tubs until sprouted about now but surprised to note under the dark blue slightly transparent tub they're similar to the daffs in the grass
Under the essentially opaque plastic terracotta tub they're obviously light starved and pale - same variety and planted in both tubs at same time last autumn Is blue light as good as daylight for plants?

| | | Re: daffs and light! Don't know but what i can say is that i know of a location where the dafs are already in bud and not long left now until they flower. This location sits in the shade for most of the day. Whats of interest to me is that these dafs seem to be closer to bloom then others that sit in full sun for most of the day. |

| | | Re: daffs and light! This rang some dim and distant bells from A level biology, so a quick google revealed that chlorophylls do absorb energy most strongly at the blue end of the visible spectrum, followed by red, with very little in the middle. It's surprising that the blue tub is transparent enough to make a difference. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
