And the labels given to plants in garden centres aren't always very accurate. I happened to call into a local garden centre this afternoon and, browsing briefly around, I spotted they'd mis-identified several species of alien snowdrop as our "wild" species, Balkan Anemone
Anemone blanda was on sale as Blue Anemone
A. apennina and what they had down as Coralberry (
Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) was actually the hybrid
S. x chenaultii.
Of course, it doesn't necessarily matter to a gardener - unless you want the plants to spread, because some of these cultivars are sterile hybrids.
