| | | December plants in flower I thought it might be interesting to see if we could come up with a list of the plants still in flower during December - I was surprised to find quite a few yesterday, which is what sparked the idea.
So, post your finds here - with photos if you have them |

| | | Re: December plants in flower I'll get things started... Hogweed ( Heracleum mantegazzianum), Daisy ( Bellis perennis), [d]Dandelion[/b] ( Taraxacum officinale), Yarrow ( Achillea millefolium), Shepherd's-purse ( Capsella bursa-pastoris) and whatever that little pale blue one is that i've posted in the other thread ( ) were all out at Frenchay Hospital, north Bristol, yesterday (December 4th)
At Abbey Wood Station, our naturalised Koromiko ( Hebe salicifolia) has a few flowers, and we've still got Confused Michaelmas-daisy ( Aster novi-belgii) and Love-in-a-mist ( Nigella damascena) in full bloom.

| | | Re: December plants in flower There are still loads about down here.
Hogweed, White Deadnettle, Ox-eye Daisy, Dandelion, Daisy, Yarrow, Campion, smooth Sow-thistle, prickly Sow-thistle, Nipplewort, Blackberry, Grounsel, Winter Heliotrope, Bristly Ox-tongue. Today I found one very bedraggled Bugle in flower.
The first three are the most commonly seen.
In various gardens round about there is Fuschia, perennial Candytuft, Lobelia (don't know how this one survived the hard frost we had this week!), Honeysuckle (not a native one), Lavender, Hebe, Primrose.
There are also quite a few ornamental Cherry/Plum trees in blossom. |

| | | Re: December plants in flower Hi David et al,
Nice idea for a thread!
The Garden Roses still open, and a regular Daisy (... which probably has a Latin name ) in a grassland situation. I've decided to get the latter a book on wildflowers for Christmas so it knows when to pop-up next year...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: December plants in flower The naturalised roadside Kerria ( Kerria japonica) bush I found back in April at Frenchay, north Bristol, also has a couple of flowers on it - it flowered in the spring, so this must be a second flush |

| | | Re: December plants in flower We've had Primroses in bloom since early last month with tender garden flowers still in bloom. The Daffs have also stuck their heads above the parapet.
