The butterfly, I believe, is a Common Blue |

| | | Re: What are any of these called? Yes ,Beekeeper I took the photo locally, not more than 1 mile from home.It was by the side of a small river I followed the Common Blue waiting for it to land .The ground there I think is made up because the river bank is not a natural bank but is made of large stones ,if that makes sense. The surrounding area is farmland but the river bank is quite different and the soil seems to be a lot more gritty.I have found Eyebright and Common Centaury growing very close to where this photo was taken.
Thank you for the suggestion Davidbr but I don't think it could be Sea Sandwort,I should have given the location in my original post, sorry.
I was just wondering if there was anything of interest in the photo apart from the lovely butterfly.

the small golden green leaves are some sort of moss. Above the stone the long leaved plant is ribwort plantain. In the bottom left corner and again towards the top right there is bird's-foot trefoil (larval foodplant of the butterfly). There is a thistle above the plantain - Probably creeping thistle, maybe marsh thistle and looks to be some mouse-ear hawkweed to the right hand edge just above the middle (the quite broad-leaved rosette species). Also, just creeping in at top right with divided hairy leaves some yarrow. Best I can do.

John | Ooops. Meant to say in the bottom left corner and again towards the top left. Sorry for any confusion. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
