ID tree+shrub with unusual fruit

Mulberry fruits are delicious. As a school girl I used to go to a garden for the blind in hornchurch, next to the swimming pool and kiddies playground. In the middle of the lawn was a mulberry tree, guess who used to eat all the mulberries? I am thinking of buying a tree for our garden, but it will take ten years before the tree fruits. Hopefully, I will still be around in ten years time lol.

I too remember a Mulberry tree from childhood, in the grounds of Dr. Boultbee's house on the Green at Frampton on Severn. It was still there a couple of years ago.

Havn't come across many since then but my new neighbours brought five Mulberry's in pots that have now been planted in a border. I popped round after reading the last post and took a few pics. The birds have eaten most of the fruits but there are a couple still left ripening.

Four of the five have a drooping habit and appear to either have been grafted or stem pruned. I can't work out which - anyone any ideas?

From the shape of the leaves they look like White Mulberry.

Sadly, White Mulberry fruits are nothing like as tasty as Black Mulberries (at least, in this country).
