| | | Flower for ID please We saw this flower growing between a small river and some arable land in Yorkshire a couple of weeks ago. The plant was quite abundant and some specimens were well over 6' tall. The flowers varied from very pale to very dark pink, and I also saw some while we were out driving one day. I have no idea what it is, but was wondering whether anyone out there might be able to shed some light as to its identity. Many thanks... |

| | | Re: Flower for ID please Yes the dreaded Himalayan Balsam. Pretty but very invasive and not native.

| | | Re: Flower for ID please Many thanks for your swift replies. I did wonder whether it was an escapee, and I saw a thread title the other week about some kind of Balsam and I wondered.... It certainly is pretty, but I could see how it takes over and could be quite a nuisance. So thanks again. (Wish I had rubbed it now, to see whether it smelt at all medicinal) |
