Today i got bought some apricots and decided i would crack open the kernel... random thing i know but hey
I was surprised to see a nut which looked identical to an almond... infact if you mixed fresh almonds and fresh apricot nuts in a bag i would struggle to separate them.
I decided to taste it... wow what a beautiful nut and a very strong almond flavour... it was manly a sweet taste but there was the faint bitter taste of poison. I must admit i have eaten much bitter tasting almonds - not on purpose though.
Ok so i googled apricot and was surprised to see that there was quite a lot about eating the nut in the kernel, and a lot of it was contradictory - some say ok to eat others say no.
So ok the ones that say no say this because of the cyanide content but if this is so then why not just roast the nut like they do with bitter almonds???
Has anybody else tried apricot nut??
