| | | Re: Is this Sheep's Sorrel ? It's hard to be certain from what I can see there, but judging by the size of surrounding stems etc my first thought would have been Common Sorrel (Rumex acetosa)
When I see Sheep's Sorrel (Rumex acetosella), it's usually as a plant of short, grazed acid grassland and tends to be at the most six inches or so high. Common Sorrel (R. acetosa) is more a general meadow plant. |

| | | Re: Is this Sheep's Sorrel ? I'm happy to go with that if that's what you think .It is on grazed ground,in fact there were sheep watching me very close by.From memory I'd say most of it was under 6 inches high but not all of it, the tallest being 9 inches. Barbara |

| | | Re: Is this Sheep's Sorrel ? Hi,
I think this is Sheep's Sorrel, growing at The Duver, St Helens, IoW. It was around 3in high, quite delicate. A useful feature for id is the leaf shape, I think. In Common Sorrel the basal lobes of the leaf point backwards, whereas in Sheep's Sorrel the lobes point out sideways or forwards. I've cropped out a bit of the picture to show this, Rob
