Plant for ID
Can anyone help with this one please? It's growing in a dried up pond (lining punctured!) in a conservation meadow near me. It has a strong mint like smell and the structure of the flowers is a bit like (say) Whorled Mint. However, the leaves seem all wrong for any mints that I know, and the stem is whitish. There is a small piece of water mint for comparison growing in one of the pics.

It is Water Spearmint (Mentha cervina - a.k.a. Preslia cervina) a native of France, Spain & Portugal. It is occasionally grown in this country as a pond plant.
