It tasted plum like but not quite as nice, i think the word is astringent, i dont think i would eat to many, which is a shame because theres loads of them! but i would eat one again, maybe my taste buds will become acustomed to the taste! | the ones in you photo are not ripe... they go a dark yellow when ripe and often with plenty of speckles.... the will also soften up. |

here are a few i picked yesterday, unfortunately the yellow are only just starting to ripen so i did not get as many as them..... |

| | | Re: unidentified yellow fruit and purple plant I think these maybe Bullace which come in yellow and purple varieties. They are slightly larger than a cherry but smaller than a cherry plum. The yellow ones have a slight pink tinge on one side but never turn red. They have a single stone which does not come out easily. The purple type are smaller and very like sloes but the bush is not prickly.
