Blue/Purple Flower ID please!

Hullo,

I stumbled across this absolutely beautiful plant in the middle of some completely isolated scrubland. I'm guessing it's an escape or cultivar as I don't recall seeing it in my Sterry book. It had a lovely, almost 'two tone' colour system!

It's a Larkspur, Consolida sp.; probably C. ajacis.

Yes, it's Larkspur (Consolida ajacis)

When I was in Norfolk recently I came across it in several places along the A149 coast road; near Heacham, at Burnham Market and just outside of Sheringham. The Flora of Norfolk book I've got says it's quite a rare casual in the county, so I was wondering whether all these plants came from the same source, i.e. dumped topsoil after roadworks?
