Burrowing Clover - Trifolium subterraneum
Thanks

| | | Re: Coastal flowers Agree with clover. What habitat was the spurrey on, as Rock Spurrey is superficially similar? Greater Sea-spurrey has petals exceeding sepals but equal in Rock + I'm not too sure about this from the photo. |

Probably clifftop turf

| | | Re: Coastal flowers Reading up on the two, Greater Sea Spurrey grows in saltmarshes, Rock Sea Spurrey grows on cliffs.
I didn't make it to sea level at this site so I guess that makes it Rock Sea Spurrey.
Thanks for pointing out the two types.

| | | Re: Coastal flowers Always look at the seeds when you find a Spergularia. Greater sea spurrey seeds have a winged border, those of rock sea spurrey don't. If fruits are unripe open one, the winged (or unwinged) border is easily visible on the immature seeds | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
