| | | 2 Plants for I.D. The first was quite tall and the seed head was about the size of a tennis ball.
The second looked like a dandelion but had all these spikes on the leaves.
Probably both quite common, but not to me. |

It's Hawkweed Oxtongue that I've been having real trouble finding... |

It's Hawkweed Oxtongue that I've been having real trouble finding... | I was also surprised by KT's comment as it's 1 of the commonest wildflowers I see. Hawkweed Ox-tongue less frequent, but still see it regularly. |

I might have seen it elsewhere dismissing it as a Sonchus |

I see it fairly infrequently where I am now, but when I used to live in Milton Keynes it was by far one of the commonest plant species. |

| | | Re: 2 Plants for I.D. Hi,
I think the first one is Salsify. We have quite a lot of it growing along ditches around us. At this time the seed heads are like very large dandelions, about tennis ball size. In the first photo I can see a flower bud, quite distinctive.
