| | | Woodland wildflowers for id These photos were all taken earlier this evening in Ashampstead Common, a deciduous woodland in west Berkshire. Can anyone id them for me please
These first two are the type that always confuse me. The first growing on a meadow/woodland boundary and the second along a footpath in the wood; the first flowers being quite a bit bigger than the second. Sorry there are no pics of the leaves of the second one
This one I'm sure I used to know but can't place a name to at the moment. The flowers were very small < 5 mm. (I have pictures of the leaves if needed)
Finally, I think this is Creeping cinquefoil - Potentilla reptans, but I'm confused, does it have an extra petal or is it something else? (it was definitely attached!)
Many thanks!

The first pink flower is definitely Musk Mallow, but the second is a type of Willowherb. I've seen a lot of them in recent days, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to distinguish between them (other than Rosebay and Great Willowherb!).
And I agree that the tiny white flower is Enchanter's Nightshade (one I learnt on WAB last year). Again there is a lot of it around my way at the moment. |
