Pink flower for ID please
There were a number of these in flower alongside a canal today - I can't seem to find anything similar so think it's possibly an escapee?

Its Purple Loosestrife - Lythrum salicaria.

I agree with Deer Stalker, it's Purple Loosestrife. I think a canal is a fairly likely place to find it, I've seen it along the Grand Union Canal.
