It was found amongst many others at Malham Tarn this afternoon - predominently boggy area.
I'm rubbish with orchids especially the pinky/purplish ones  but it did look significantly different to the usual ones I find there.

I'm not good on orchids but the infloresence looks the wrong shape to me. Not Pyramidal at all.

Well it was found at Malham Tarn which is in the fabulous Yorkshire Dales... so could it be a 'Southern' one

looks to me like an early purple orchid (Orchis mascuala) but theres no blotches on the leaves on the one nearest to the camera. I would say 100% early purple for the one at the back of the image and perhaps a variation on the one closer to the camera.
