| | | Umbellifer, grass & thistle for ID All growing today on the banks of the Thames in Berkshire. Any IDs would be greatly appreciated this was prolific and was about 4.5 - 5ft high. I'm sure this is really obvious 4.5 - 5ft high again

| | | Re: Umbellifer, grass & thistle for ID I wouldn't swear to either of these ids, but I think the grass is wood small-reed Calamagrostis epigejos and the thistle is welted thistle Carduus crispus (C. acanthoides as was) |

welted thistle Carduus crispus is one name that I'd considered so your suggestion makes it more probable.
I'm not convinced on wood small-reed Calamagrostis epigejos, though. Looking at pictures on the web it looks quite different. Maybe it's at a different stage of it's growth/cycle?

| | | Re: Umbellifer, grass & thistle for ID Agree with Welted Thistle.
Unfortunately your other good photos don't show features such as leaves + general appearance of the plants which are useful when IDing from pictures.
The umbellifer flowers look like Coriander to me, which is an increasing casual. |

The flowers look like the wrong shape for Coriander but look a lot like Common Hogweed |
