| | | 4 for ID/confirmation 4 Plants from the heathlands at Little Haldon.
1. Sorry about the rubbish out-of-focus piccie, but the leaves are distinctive!
2. Ditto for the photo. Is this yellow rattle?
3. Here's hoping. The spotting on the leaves is arranged horizontally, rather than vertically: common spotted orchid?
4. Here's one that I really can't place. The leaves look almost like carnation leaves!
All help greatly appreciated, as always! |

The second one's Rattle, as you suggested.
The third one is a dactylorhiza of some sort, but as dactylorhizas are such a mess of hybrids, I don't attempt to keep up with them!
I think the last one's Goatsbeard ('Jack Go To Bed At Noon').
(Hey, I got in before 'KeenTeen17'!)
;^)

Otherwise I agree with Jim |

| | | Re: 4 for ID/confirmation Glad I got Yellow Rattle and the orchid. I nearly went for Goat's-beard you know, but the illustration in a book I had just didn't do the plant justice. It's actually a very pretty plant! I didn't think number 1 was Jack-by-the-hedge, but I was obviously confused by the 2 plants together, both of which I'd already seen separately (hard note to self - wake up and look more bloody closely!!).
Thanks again all. |
