| | | Mystery Sapling Hi there
Yet another mystery from me .... I'm hopeless but willing to learn :-)
Seen close to the banks of the River Tay near Dunkeld, Perthshire in April 2009. As usual, any help much appreciated. Many thanks Heather |

Seriously, some of the Acer family saplings can look very similar until the leaves have fully developed. |

| | | Re: Mystery Sapling Don't worry KT, I'm still getting confused with trees!
There's one thing I enjoy though, that's trying to ID tree species on WAB, especially stuff I've never come across before or thought about. A picture of a part trunk with no clues as to foliage, habitat, geology etc. is challenging.
I find myself actively looking for the species in question to compare and hopefully lodge some info into this fading brain. Yesterday, I was looking at some young plane trees in the Environment Agency's H.Q. car park in Warrington in regard to another ID thread. Having found some local mature planes last w/e, I can say the features were very different and can now see what went wrong with my original suggestion on that thread.
I'm going to join that exclusive group of mis-identifiers!
Apologies for going off track, heatherannj. |
