| | | another amazing day to share :D AMAZING DAY (16th) Monkey orchids were the highlight...
followed very closely by this lady orchid...
the hybrid between the two...
then common twayblade...
the rare downy-fruited sedge...
Other species recorded were black bryony, chalk milkwort, rough chervil, common gromwell and wild parsnip
brilliant day (and as you can see I'm still getting used to the new lens - although these photos look less sharp than the ones on my computer )

That Monkey Orchid has got me thinking. Surely it's no coincidence that the orchid is shaped as it is, how does it know?! |

As regards their sharpness - resizing photos to the size required to load onto WAB and the resizing software the site uses can all make a shot look less sharp than the original. I don't know what photo software you use but if you applying a little sharpening to you resized images as the very last step in processing them before submission then that can help. The large versions of your shots using the "Click on image to view larger image" instruction look pretty good to me.

| | | Re: another amazing day to share :D Sounds like a great day, Leifus
I don't suppose you could PM me the location of your orchid finds, could you? Both species, plus the hybrid, in the same place would be excellent |

| | | Re: another amazing day to share :D Fantastic - I'm drooling - it brought back good memories of an 'orchid' hol we had in Kent years ago and clocked up 20 species - the only one we missed was birds nest - but seeing the specialities that only grow down south was fabulous - I shall never forget the lady orchids and huge leggy fly orchids with 11 and 13 flowers on the stem - we're lucky oop north if there are 3 flowers open at any one time!
And as Rob says when you have finished resizing for the web the very last action to bring your shots back to perfection is to Sharpen and watch them bounce back to clarity - may you and your new lens live in perfect harmony
